WordPress 3.0, Beta 1 is Released

This is really great news of yesterday. WordPress 3.0 beta is out for testing.

They merged the wordpress and wordpressMU in this version. There are so many major changes in UI and interfaces has been done.

You must know about this release

  • The custom menus system (Appearance > Menus) is not quite finished. In Beta 2, the layout will be different and a bunch of the functionality will be improved, but we didn’t want to hold things up for this one screen. You can play with making custom menus, and report bugs if you find them, but this is not how the final screen will look/work, so don’t get attached to it.
  • The merge! Yes, WordPress and WordPress MU have merged. This does not mean that you can suddenly start adding a bunch of new blogs from within your regular WordPress Dashboard. If you’re interested in testing the Super Admin stuff associated with multiple sites, you’ll need some simple directions to get started.
  • We’re still fiddling with a few small things in the UI, as we were focused on getting the more function-oriented code finished first. For example, we’re getting a new icon for the Super Admin section.

Father of the PC Dr Henry Edward Roberts died

Dr Henry Edward Roberts was the inventor of the Altair 8800, a machine that sparked the home computer era.

Gates and Allen contacted Dr Roberts after seeing the machine on the front cover of a magazine and offered to write software for it.

When Roberts developed his Altair 8800 the following year, it became the first commercially-successful personal computer kit, retailing at $397. At first the project seemed ill-starred: having promised Popular Electronics a prototype to meet the magazine’s copy deadline, Roberts shipped the machine to New York, only for it to be lost in transit.

Once launched, the machine – named Altair after the 12th brightest star in the sky – became another instant hit, with MITS shipping more than 5,000 kits in seven months. By 1976 sales totalled $6 million. But competitors had already started selling imitations, and the following year Roberts sold his company, pocketed $2 million and moved to rural Georgia, becoming a gentleman farmer and starting a software company.

Later he was able to fulfil his boyhood ambition of becoming a doctor, and set up a practice in the small town of Cochran in 1988.

The program was known as Altair-Basic, the foundation of Microsoft’s business.

“Ed was willing to take a chance on us – two young guys interested in computers long before they were commonplace – and we have always been grateful to him,” the Microsoft founders said in a statement.

“The day our first untested software worked on his Altair was the start of a lot of great things.”

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak told technology website CNET that Dr Roberts had taken ” a critically important step that led to everything we have today”.

‘Fond memories’

Dr Roberts was the founder of Micro Instrumentation and Telemetry Systems (MITS), originally set up to sell electronics kits to model rocket hobbyists.

The company went on to sell electronic calculator kits, but was soon overshadowed by bigger firms.

In the mid-1970’s, with the firm struggling with debt, Dr Roberts began to develop a computer kit for hobbyists.

The result was the Altair 8800, a machine operated by switches and with no display.

It took its name from the then-cutting edge Intel 8080 microprocessor.

The $395 kit (around £1,000 today) was featured on the cover of Popular Electronics in 1975, prompting a flurry of orders. It was also sold assembled for an additional $100 charge.

Amongst those interested in the machine were Paul Allen and Bill Gates.

The pair contacted Dr Roberts, offering to write software code that would help people program the machine.

The pair eventually moved to Albuquerque – the home of MITS – where they founded Micro-Soft, as it was then known, to develop their software: a variant of the Beginners All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code (Basic).

“We will always have many fond memories of working with Ed in Albuquerque, in the MITS office right on Route 66 – where so many exciting things happened that none of us could have imagined back then,” the pair said.

Dr Roberts sold his company in 1977.

He died in hospital on 1 April after a long bout of pneumonia.

First I will tell you how can you check your wordpress website is hacked or not.

When you saw strange keywords in URL like  “eval” and “base64_decode.”

Check your Users in wordpress admin panel If you saw any new unwanted users then you really need to worry about.

Some time you did not able to access your wordpress admin panel. Then immediately take action and call your system admin or web development company.

I suggest first upgrade your wordpress version to greater than wordpress 2.8.6. I personally use the 2.8.6 and I did not found any issues yet.

Keep your admin passwords and database and ftp passwords as strong as possible.  Use special characters and numbers in password.

My personal suggestion is keep using the latest wordpress version.

This is quite surprising news that facebook crossed the google in traffic hits. As we know google is top most website in traffic sense for last couple of years. Lask week we got very surprising news about US traffic.

Facebook reached an important milestone for the week ending March 13, 2010 and surpassed Google in the US to become the most visited website for the week.

This when compared to last year’s mere 2% of US web traffic, is a massive growth to the current 7%. This data has been released by Hitwise and we can make sure of this research, once other online firms release their reports on this incident.

For the first time in the US, the popular social networking site Facebook has surpassed the most popular search engine Google. It was for the first time Facebook has transcended in peak traffic for such long a period of time.

For the entire week people caught up more on the interaction with pals on Facebook than on Google, however the margin between the two was very thin.According to Experian Hitwise, a company that measures online traffic, published by the Financial Times, for the week ending March 13, visits to Facebook.com accounted for 7.07 percent of all Internet traffic in the United States leading ahead of google that followed it with 7.03 percent.

In 2007 Google launched its new product called Google Gears. Google Gears makes it easy to browse the Internet, or sites you have already visited so you can visit them again using an amazing cache technology.

Here I will explain you what is google gears is doing. When we open our worpdpress admin, wordpress will download common images, JavaScript libraries and CSS files.

If we use the google gears then WordPress will store all these ’static’ files on your hard drive and will not download them from the web server. Means each time you are opening the WordPress admin panel that time wordpress will not download the common images and css and javascript. Thus, it should speed up things especially if you are on a slow connection.

Samsung Electronics Co. announced Tuesday that it is selling two 3-D sets. Combined with the required glasses and a 3-D Blu-ray player, the prices start at about $3,000 for a 46-inch screen.

Panasonic Corp. has said it will sell its first 3-D set Wednesday.

The push into the living room comes as moviegoers have shown considerable enthusiasm for the latest wave of 3-D fare in the theater. This weekend, “Alice in Wonderland” grossed an estimated $116.2 million at the box office, beating the first-weekend receipts of “Avatar,” the winter’s 3-D blockbuster.

Although it’s clear that 3-D sets for the home will appeal to technology and home-theater enthusiasts, it remains to be seen if the TVs will entice regular consumers to spend $500 or more above the price of a comparably sized standard TV and Blu-ray player.

The 3-D effect requires viewers to wear relatively bulky glasses that need to be recharged occasionally. They’re not like the cheap throwaways that have been used in theaters since the 1950s. When you’re wearing these 3-D TV glasses, room lights and computer screens may look like they’re flickering, making it difficult to combine 3-D viewing with other household activities.

And for now, there isn’t much to watch in 3-D. Samsung is including a 3-D copy of “Monsters vs. Aliens” on Blu-ray discs with its packages, in a deal with the studio, DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. Its CEO, Jeffrey Katzenberg, said that it would convert its “Shrek” movies to 3-D for Samsung TV buyers later this year.

This is really great news we got from wordpress. After wordpress 3.0 release wordpress and wordpress MU is merging.  This is really great news to multiple blogger community.

After April 2010 we can able to handle multiple blogs though only one wordpress instance. As per Automatic this is the biggest release ever of wordpress. Because more than 100 developers are working for wordpress 3.0 release. As Matt is celebrating the 6th anniversary of the open source blogging software.

People are always thinking about free wordpress plugins because there are thousands of plugin are available for singular wordpress. WordPressMu stands for his own advantages.

I am really fan of wordpressMU always because I started my carrier with wordpressMU. I written my first wordpress plugin for wordpressMU. Many big magazine and business companies always prefer to to use the WordPressMU.

Ruby is very powerful object-oriented language. new Ruby performance improvement. Working with pure Ruby is really fun and interesting to me. I am the real fan of Ruby language.

I am working Ruby on Rails for around last four years. There is always I am thinking and all ROR developers are thinking about performance of application.

We always compare Ruby on Rails with PHP, Java, Python, dot net. We came to know that where we are lacking in ROR. Just one issue performance and memory issue.

When we got news about Ruby 1.9 is comming with performance improvement of 63%. Yes, It is not a joke. This is really great news for every ROR developers. Ruby 1.9 and Rails 3.0 is the future of internet.

Now I will talk about Ruby Software engineer who developed and worked on the Ruby 1.9.

Masahiro Kanai, who improved the performance of several methods in Ruby 1.9. He is the age of high school, just 17.
