Woe to the WordPress administrator who finds only blank pages where once stood a WordPress-based blog or Web site. The site has been plagued with what an increasing number of WordPress operators are nicknaming the White Screen of Death.
Beware the WordPress white screen of death
As the nickname states, the White Screen of Death, WSoD, renders all the WordPress-built pages as a blank screen. But unlike the infamous Microsoft Windows Blue Screen of Death after which it was named, the WSoD does not offer any debugging code, or pointers to what might be causing the problem. Just a blank page where content once resided.
Worse yet, in addition to offlining a Web site or set of blog pages, the bug can also render invisible the WordPress Web-based administrator console, in which some debugging could occur.
The true cause of WSoD cannot be traced to any individual cause, or even to the WordPress code itself, but rather to a conflation of issues around the technology WordPress uses, as well as how the software is augmented by others.
“Our hands … are mostly tied here, especially since WordPress is extended through code from others,” said Andrew Nacin, a WordPress developer, in an e-mail interview.
The good news is that the developers of WordPress offer some simple hints at how to debug the problem, and they promise more measures to thwart the appearance of blank screens in the upcoming version 3.0 release of the software, which should be posted within a few weeks.
Since its first release in 2003, WordPress has played a pivotal role in the emergence of blogs on the Web. An open-source project, it is free to download, and Redwood City, California-based Automattic offers a hosted version of the blogging software, which runs more than 11 million blogs.
Organizations are also considering using WordPress as a low-cost content management system.
WordPress is a modular program. It is actually built with other open-source tools, most notably the PHP Web scripting language. In order to construct a WordPress page, the Web server software executes a series of PHP scripts using a PHP processing module, drawing the content from a database, usually MySQL.
While the WordPress package offers the basic ability to run a blog, most of the additional functionality comes from plug-ins developed by third-parties. Likewise, the look-and-feel of a WordPress blog can be altered by using themes, or templates also generated by third parties.
Some of these of plugs-ins and themes are better constructed than others. And that's where the problem begins.
“Generally, you'll see [a blank page] when PHP hits a brick wall before the browser is served any output,” Nacin said.
Apple on Wednesday released iTunes 9.2, an update to its media and syncing software for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.
iTunes 9.2 adds a handful of features, chiefly compatibility with iOS 4 and iPhone 4, both of which are slated for release next week. In addition, the update introduces book syncing and reading with an iPhone or iPod touch running iBooks 1.1, and support for organizing and syncing PDF documents as books.
iTunes 9.2 also supports the new Folders feature in iOS 4 that lets users organize apps into groups (if you synced a device running a build of iOS 4 with a previous iTunes version, your folders would be blown away and all apps would wind up spread out across home screen pages). The updated version should allow for much faster backups while syncing an iPhone or iPod touch running iOS 4 (but, notably, not previous iOS versions), and album artwork should appear more quickly when exploring your library.
iTunes 9.2 is available now via Software Update and at Apple’s site for both Macs and PCs.
Yahoo users can now view their Facebook News Feed via their Yahoo home page, Yahoo Mail, and other Yahoo sites, the company said. Additionally, content created on Yahoo sites, including Yahoo News, Sports, Movies and the photo-site Flickr, can be shared with friends on Facebook.
Yahoo and Facebook Users now exchange content and data
Ethan Beard, director of Facebook Developer Network, was quoted in the Yahoo statement saying that, “by integrating with Facebook on a global scale, Yahoo is building upon an already valuable brand to give people easy ways to share the content they enjoy on Yahoo! with their friends on Facebook.”
Yahoo offered more details of the way people can connect with Facebook sites on its blog, but Facebook remained mum on the issue early Monday, without any details in its press center, blog or twitter feed. The most recent communications on these pages largely addressed privacy concerns.
Yahoo and Facebook first announced a plan to integrate services much more closely last December. At the time, Yahoo users in the U.S. were able to call up their Facebook activity streams and post status updates from the Yahoo home page, as well as use buttons to share certain Yahoo content. The companies promised much more this year via the use of Facebook’s Connect technology across Yahoo sites.
The apple very successfully launched the ipad. They just sold 300,000 ipads in single weekend. “Weak Wifi Pages” already has over 10,000 views – remarkable since it’s only been 48 hours since the official iPad launch.
Apple Confirmed about issue with Wi-Fi and iPad
There is very serious issue with ipad and wi-fi router connection. So many people are struggling with wireless network and ipad. Another issue being reported is the iPad’s continuous request for re-authentication to a secured wireless router, even after a successful, initial connection to it.
What you can do with wi-fi and ipad issue.
If you’re an early adopter experiencing connectivity issues there are a few things you can do to until Apple comes up with a more definitive explanation and fix for this problem:
* Update Your Router’s Firmware. Before attempting to connect an iPad to a home network, make sure that you have the latest version of the firmware to ensure that the router is functioning at full capability. This is usually done within the router’s included software.
* Change The Router’s Location. Do you have your router positioned in close proximity to equipment that could be causing interference? Microwaves, cordless phones, baby monitors, wireless keyboards, and Bluetooth devices can muddy a W-Fi signal.
* Set Your Router To Operate On One 802.11 Standard. Most current routers support not only 802.11n, but a, b, and g as well. Set your router to operate exclusively on the greatest standard available, and do the same with the wireless devices on your network. The iPad ships with support for 802.11n, so you should have your router match that if possible.
* Change Your Router’s Security Encryption. Typically, security isn’t something that should be experimented with, but when attempting to boost network performance, it may be necessary. There’s no question that WPA and WPA2 encryption is more secure than WEP, but the jury’s still out about which encryption method can slow a network down more (some believe it’s WEP and others WPA). If you have either currently deployed in your home network, try changing to a different encryption setting and see if that makes any difference in your connectivity. Apple also recommends that you use the same security settings across the entire network.
* Rename Your Networks. Apple makes the somewhat odd suggestion that users rename their networks. “Create separate Wi-Fi network names to identify each band. This can be done easily by appending one or more characters to the current network name. Example: Add a G to the 802.11b/g network name and an N to the 802.11n network name.”
In this February google launched the google buzz that time many people asked questions about safety and security. On this monday google start to users to reconfirm their privacy settings.
Google really take attention over teenager. They launched the one you tube video about teen safery tips.
Google launched the google Buzz teen safety tips video
I personally liked this video very much and every google buzz user need to watch this video at least one time.
As per this video you can set the following privacy settings.
1. Keep your private information private. Posting publicly on the Web means that whatever you post is visible to all of your followers. It shows up on your public Google profile and may appear in Google search results.
2. Know who’s following you. Buzz sends a notification after someone starts following you and you can chose to block them. If you block someone Buzz doesn’t send them a message so they won’t necessarily know they’ve been blocked.
3. Control your Google profile. Before you can post on Buzz, you have to set up a public profile, but you don’t have to share anything more than your first and last name on the profile. The video reminds you that if you have a photo associated with your Gmail account, “you can chose to use this use this as your profile photo as well” but you can change or remove the photo if you don’t want it to be public. You can also elect whether you want your list of followers to show up publicly on your profile.
4. Manage posts and comments. Teens are reminded that they can edit and delete their own posts and delete any comments on your posts and you can remove comments you’ve made on other people’s posts.
5. Know how to turn it off. If you no longer want to use Buzz, you can disable it from Gmail settings. You can also hide Buzz in Gmail but still get it on your phone.

ipad used for may purposes. We figure out some things which you does not know. we collected very famous list of 10 most surprising things about iPad.
most surprising things about iPad
1. It screams
The early reviews all said that the iPad was “wicked fast,” and boy, they weren’t kidding. Applications literally fly open, and browsing the Web on Safari is way faster than on the iPhone. I could get used to this.
2. It’s heavier than I thought it would be
One-and-a-half pounds sounds pretty light, especially when you consider that the flyweight MacBook Air weighs in at about 3.5 pounds. That said, the iPad felt surprisingly heavy the first time I hefted it—not so heavy that I’m bursting a blood vessel or anything, but I’m curious to see how it’ll feel after an hour or so of reading an iBook, what Apple is calling the e-books you can download onto the device.
3. Good luck reading e-books in direct sunlight
Yes, the iPad has it all over the Kindle when it comes to its eye-catching color screen and sleek page-flicking animations. The beauty of the Kindle’s black-and-white e-ink screen, however, is that text stands out quite nicely when you’re reading in the sun; on the iPad, however, the color display looks disappointingly washed out in direct sunlight, problematic for reading e-books poolside.
4. Virtual QWERTY keypad isn’t as bad as I’d feared
No, it’s nothing like typing on a real keyboard, but for me, the iPad’s virtual QWERTY keypad isn’t nearly as terrible as many had warned. I’ve managed to bang out a few decent-sized emails on the thing, and it’s certainly better than typing on the iPhone. The key, I’ve found, is to relax and let the automatic error correction do its thing; if you keep hitting backspace to fix your errors (and there will be errors, trust me), you’ll be tapping all day. That said, keep in mind that to type on the iPad, you must do one of several things:
Prop it (awkwardly) in your lap to type
Place it flat on a table—not the best solution due to the iPad’s curved back
Hold it in one hand and tap with the other, effectively slashing your possible WPM
Invest in Apple’s $79 iPad keyboard dock
Use Apple’s $39 case to prop the iPad up at a good typing angle
5. Can’t charge iPad over a USB port
First I tried it on my USB hub, then on the powered USB port on my MacBook Pro, but nope…no juice—not even when the iPad’s syncing with iTunes. Looks like the only way to charge the iPad, apparently, is using the included AC wall adapter. Good thing the iPad’s battery is rated for 10-plus hours.
Update: Actually, according to Macworld, you can charge iPad via a high-power USB port, but for low-power USB ports (something that an “older Mac, most Windows PCs and most USB hubs” don’t have, Macworld notes) the iPad will only charge (“slowly”) when it’s asleep. Still surprising in my book, but apologies for the error.
6. HD videos look amazing
Practically the first thing I did after unpacking the iPad was queue up the 720p trailer for “Avatar,” and…whoa. Absolutely gorgeous. Watching movies on the plane will never be the same again.
7. Reflections on the display are pretty distracting
The moment the wife and I were done “oohing” and “ahhing” over that “Avatar” video, we started complaining about our reflections in the iPad’s glass display. It’s not bad at all when you’re surfing or composing email, but if you’re watching a movie—and especially during a darkly lit scene—prepare to see your reflected self looking back at you. (Yes, the iPhone’s screen suffers from glare, too, but at least I couldn’t see my entire head reflected in the glass.)
8. Location-based services work fine in a pinch
One of the problems with the Wi-Fi-only iPad versus the upcoming 3G-embedded model is that it lacks A-GPS, a system that combines satellite data with cell-tower triangulation to pinpoint your location, even when you’re indoors. That said, the Wi-Fi-only version can still attempt to find where you are using nearby Wi-Fi signals, and I was impressed when my new iPad immediately zeroed in on my apartment, within half a block. Not bad.
9, The iPad makes calls, with a little help from Skype
Yes, Apple had promised that “almost” all iPhone apps would work on the iPad, but I had my doubts about Skype. Today, though, I was finally able to put Skype on the iPad to the test: I loaded it up, logged into my (for-pay) Skype Out account, and dialed 777-FILM. The next thing I heard? “Hello, welcome to Moviefone! If you know the name of the movie you want to see, press one now!” (Of course, this would all be a little more amazing if the iPad had a front-facing camera for video calls.)
10. My iPhone seems really, really small now
After testing the iPad for about an hour or so, I went to check my iPhone for a second and…yikes, what is this tiny little thing? So puny!
This is quite surprising news that facebook crossed the google in traffic hits. As we know google is top most website in traffic sense for last couple of years. Lask week we got very surprising news about US traffic.
Facebook crossed google in traffic
Facebook reached an important milestone for the week ending March 13, 2010 and surpassed Google in the US to become the most visited website for the week.
This when compared to last year’s mere 2% of US web traffic, is a massive growth to the current 7%. This data has been released by Hitwise and we can make sure of this research, once other online firms release their reports on this incident.
For the first time in the US, the popular social networking site Facebook has surpassed the most popular search engine Google. It was for the first time Facebook has transcended in peak traffic for such long a period of time.
For the entire week people caught up more on the interaction with pals on Facebook than on Google, however the margin between the two was very thin.According to Experian Hitwise, a company that measures online traffic, published by the Financial Times, for the week ending March 13, visits to Facebook.com accounted for 7.07 percent of all Internet traffic in the United States leading ahead of google that followed it with 7.03 percent.
Samsung and Panasonic will start selling 3-D TVs in U.S. stores this week. This inaugurates what all TV makers hope is the era of 3-D viewing in the living room.
Samsung, Panasonic start selling 3-D TVs
Samsung and Panasonic will start selling 3-D TVs in U.S. stores this week, inaugurating what TV makers hope is the era of 3-D viewing in the living room.
Samsung Electronics Co. announced Tuesday that it is selling two 3-D sets. Combined with the required glasses and a 3-D Blu-ray player, the prices start at about $3,000 for a 46-inch screen.
Panasonic Corp. has said it will sell its first 3-D set Wednesday.
The push into the living room comes as moviegoers have shown considerable enthusiasm for the latest wave of 3-D fare in the theater. This weekend, “Alice in Wonderland” grossed an estimated $116.2 million at the box office, beating the first-weekend receipts of “Avatar,” the winter’s 3-D blockbuster.
Although it’s clear that 3-D sets for the home will appeal to technology and home-theater enthusiasts, it remains to be seen if the TVs will entice regular consumers to spend $500 or more above the price of a comparably sized standard TV and Blu-ray player.
The 3-D effect requires viewers to wear relatively bulky glasses that need to be recharged occasionally. They’re not like the cheap throwaways that have been used in theaters since the 1950s. When you’re wearing these 3-D TV glasses, room lights and computer screens may look like they’re flickering, making it difficult to combine 3-D viewing with other household activities.
And for now, there isn’t much to watch in 3-D. Samsung is including a 3-D copy of “Monsters vs. Aliens” on Blu-ray discs with its packages, in a deal with the studio, DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. Its CEO, Jeffrey Katzenberg, said that it would convert its “Shrek” movies to 3-D for Samsung TV buyers later this year.
I am working on Ruby on Rails for past three and half year. It is really great to working with Ruby on Rails. Because working on Ruby on Rails is a really great feeling daily inventing new things, trying new things and contributing to ROR community. Discussing new things with ROR developers is really great.
On 5th Feb we got news about release of Rails 3.0 beta. We all developers are really waiting for that day. We checked the new version of Rails but what is more interesting.
The interesting part is what is new in Rails 3.0. So many developers contributed in Rails 3.0. They really worked and planned so hard.
Here I am making list what Rails 3.0 has, means new features:
Brand new router with an emphasis on RESTful declarations
New Action Mailer API modelled after Action Controller (now without the agonizing pain of sending multipart messages!)
New Active Record chainable query language built on top of relational algebra
Unobtrusive JavaScript helpers with drivers for Prototype, jQuery, and more coming (end of inline JS)
Explicit dependency management with Bundler
If you want to use the Rails 3.0 then you should install first following gems.
Now I am started working on Rails 3.0 and I am searching for the issues with Rails 3.0 because Rails 3.0 is in Beta so all ROR developer need to come up with issues of Rails 3.0 and try to fix that or submit that issue to community.
